Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity and fraud are critical problems today with impacts on adults, children, patients, doctors, the power grid, factories, drones, banks, credit unions, the credit card industry and retailers. I’ve written cybersecurity articles as it relates to all of these. For consumers, the way you type can be used to help identify a fraudster because a fraudster won’t hit the keys the way you do. A fraudster also will take longer to type your name and birth date—he or she hasn’t been typing that information for decades. In the industrial, government and energy sectors, security is critical to protect national assets. But many pieces of equipment that once were isolated are now connected directly or indirectly to the Internet, opening the door to hacking. I understand the need for the operations tech side to work closely with the information tech team. I also know about penetration tests and bug bounties.
